A means of getting back into shape which didn't require childcare!!!

"Before I became pregnant, fitness was important to me and I ran and attended fitness classes several times a week. During the course of my pregnancy, despite my best intentions, I did not keep as active as I hoped I would. After my baby I was desperate to get back into shape. I had attended some fitness classes aimed at pregnant women and I had been disappointed by the low level at which they were pitched. When I saw an advertisement for Mums in the Park I thought the class looked to be exactly what I was looking for; a means of getting back into shape which didn't require childcare. I was apprehensive that the class wouldn't pose enough of a challenge to be useful. However when I woke up the day after my first class I was in no doubt that it was having an effect! I started attending when my baby was ten weeks old, she is now 35 weeks, and I feel like a new person. Each week the class is difficult and I never feel that I am wasting my time. The group is small and you get personal attention that you woudn't at most fitness classes; there is also nowhere to hide! Sean achieves a good balance between pushing you harder than is comfortable without making you feel hopeless when you just can't make it to the end of an exercise. Mums in the Park has certainly helped me lose some of the baby weight and feel like I have regained some of my fitness. " Thanks Kate!!

thank you for all your hard work in getting me back into shape post Finlay!

I started MITP 4 months after having my first child as a way of getting my figure back and also to meet some fellow 'new mums'. Within a few months the excess baby weight was disappearing fast, and I really felt that my fitness had improved drastically (much more than I imagined was possible!), plus I've had the chance to meet some really good friends. Tony certainly does push you, but it's worth it when you see and feel the results.
I would recommend this class to anyone who, like me, wanted to get back into exercise, but struggled to see how it could be possible with a new baby. Unfortunately I've had to stop the classes now due to work and Finlay being a toddler who won't sit at peace for any length of time, but I'm hoping to return in the future at some point if there's a baby number 2!

Mums in the Park . . What can I say other than 'fantastic!!!!'

"Since joining MumsinthePark shortly after having my first child I regained my fitness and shape within a matter of months and I only attended twice a week. The difference is quite incredible, not to mention the friends I have made over the past year. The 2011 Games between the Botanics and Queens Park girls was hoot and the BBQ lush. The funniest part however was seeing the Dads attempt our exercise routines - not so easy chaps!!
Tony Curtis, who runs the classes puts incredible effort into making them interesting, tough and effective! And, in some of Glasgow's best parks. I really cannot recommend these classes enough!!! It is only a move out of Glasgow which stopped me from being able to go "just one more time". If you need a blast of exercise in the open air and some solid encouragement to keep you 'at it!' then you must, must pop along. The babies enjoy it too, spectating their mums get back to normal".

Mums in the park hits Edinburgh

What a great couple of months since starting mums in the park Edinburgh. It all started with Nicola and Paula on what was a typically beautiful Scottish summers day, which means it was hammering down with rain, and we have never looked back.
With great people coming to the classes on a regular basis i cant wait to take the Mums in the park message onwards and upwards throughout Edinburgh and east Scotland and let as many mums as possible experience what we are about. Lets all look forward to next summers mums in the park games.
It has been a pleasure working with everyone so far and long may it continue.
